My name is Gary Lyon and I am managing partner of NEVASAT, LLC, a communications, training and public relations firm. While a native of Nevada, during the past 30+ years I have worked mostly outside of the state in the world of technology, and private and social enterprise.
My experience includes RADAR, advanced weapons systems, telecommunications, prepress publishing systems, consolidated server systems, networked video conferencing technology, private entrepreneurism and most recently "Social Entrepreneurism," having served as Executive Director of two private Nevada-based non-profit economic development organizations.
My role in these fields has been primarily in the areas of communications and training, technical support, project management and general operations management. I have served on the board of directors for Web Wise Kids (www.wwk.org), a national organization, the Ron Wood Family Resource Center in Carson City, and currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Northern Nevada Development Authority (NNDA).
In 2004 I was honored by the Nevada Department of Education and the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) for my contributions in support of career and technical education in the state of Nevada and recently was selected and served as an honorary judge at the 2005 World Cup of Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE).

The *_Nevada Renewable Energy Forum_* and *_Nevada Nonprofit Forum_* are public outreach projects born out of my involvement with the people involved in research, development and use of renewable energy and nonprofit agencies in Nevada with a public forum for knowledge collaboration. It is my hope to provide both [http://www.funderstanding.com/communities_of_practice.cfm[communities of practice]] with the opportunity to more effectively collaborate and share knowledge and information that will benefit their efforts, and thereby improve the economy of Nevada and its citizens.
