---+ NevadiX Project NevadiX is a Knoppix based desktop environment, all running on a standard CD. What makes this system unique is that it runs _entirely_ off of the CD; no access to a harddrive is required. In fact, it will not change anything on any harddrive on the system unless you specifically tell it to (for saving your configuration, etc).

---++ Featured Software Some of the most prized software on the NevadiX disc include:

• Blender - A complete 3D modeling, rendering, and animation suite. Similar to 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, Maya.
• Open Office - A complete office suite including word processor, spread sheet, presentation, drawing, scripting and database support. Similar to Microsoft Office.
• Scribus - A complete Desktop Publishing environment that allows you to make newspapers, flyers, brochures, labels and logos. Similar to Quark Express and Microsoft Publisher.
• Audacity - A complete digital audio editor to do anything from creating remixes to cleaning up audio from analog tapes.
• The GIMP - A complete photo and graphics editor. Similar to Adobe Photoshop.
• KDevelop - A complete Integrated Development Environment(IDE) for many programming languages.

All of the software is completely Open Source, meaning that if you want to change anything, you can. If you want to copy it and give it to your friends, you can. Open Source software is free as in freedom.
