Computers for Kids 2.0

Some core ideas for discussion

1. For underprivileged kids, facilitate the acquisition of computer skills and a love of technology through 1) access to technology in the  home environment, and 2) ongoing application training.
2. Adopt a Hub and Spoke strategy
   • Enable at the Spoke – PCs in the kids home
   • Facilitate at the Hub – periodic SIG workshops at a Lion's sponsored Computer Cafe (KNPB, etc.)
3. Facilitate CfK Special Interest Groups (KSIGs):

   • OpenSource simulations and Economics Lab

   • OpenSource 3d graphics and animation

   • OpenSource productivity tools

4. Integrate “Virtual” service to the community into the CfK program
   • Moodle eLearning courseware (SQI provide Moodle server)
   • Service by crafting eTraining – EXE authoring tool

5. Create program for Hubs - CfK Affinity Partner

   • Provide Hub with materials
   • Train Hub volunteers
   • Hub Affiliates become self sufficient
6. Leo Guru program
   • Best Leos become lab trainer
